ELF Mineral Infused Mascara
Available at Target, eyeslipsface.com- $3
Product Claims and Description:
Provide your eyelashes with the beneficial effects of minerals with this mineral-infused mascara from ELF. The colored mascara works to define your eyelashes and make them stand out while the minerals work to make your eyelashes stronger. Mineral Infused Mascara creates fuller, healthier looking lashes. It enhances lashes for a naturally thicker and more volumized look. The long-wear formula and unique silicone brush creates clump free and defined lashes that last all day.
This mineral infused mascara is part of ELF’s Studio line that retails for $3 to $5 & for the most part, most of their products from their Studio Line have been great. However, I’m just going to be straight-forward and get to the point with this product: I did not like it, at all. I honestly tried to make it work for me, but this mascara was not cutting it for me. The formula was too wet and goopy, the brush did not separate my lashes nor added any volume or length to my lashes. If anything, it actually clumped my lashes together and when I tried separating them or comb them out with the wand (without adding anymore product) it just smeared on to my eye or just got worse. I was really disappointed in the performance of this mascara. I really had high hopes for it, because everything that I had tried in the Studio line has worked for me magnificently, but this mascara just fell short and did not meet up it’s standards or claims.
Things that could have made this mascara better would be the formula itself. If it had the right balance of moisture, I think it could live up to it’s expectations and give a better performance. As well as the brush/wand… the bristles were too short for my taste. If the bristles were a bit longer and fuller, I think this mascara would be awesome and deliver and live up to it’s expectations. Overall, I would not look into repurchasing this mascara again, unless there were changes in the formula or the wand.
I would give this mascara 1 out of 5. Sorry :/
If any of you lovelies have tried this mascara and think otherwise, please let me know if it worked for you!
I actually have a couple that I keep going back to & alternate using for different looks or just because I feel like using them. Each of these mascaras have pleased me and give me what I look for: volume, length and full looking lashes.
From Left to Right: Clinique’s High-Impact Mascara (duo with Black Honey lipgloss), Maybelline’s Falsies Volum’ Express in Black Drama, L’oreal’s Voluminous Carbon Black & MAKE UP FOR EVER’s Smoky Lash Mascara.

MAKE UP FOR EVER never seems to cease to amaze me, I fell in love with this mascara after the first sweep/ coat. I love how it made my lashes look full and voluminous, with a hint of lengthening as well. My lashes are already slightly curled, so this mascara helps enhance the look to my natural lashes with out making them look clumpy, dry or boring. The bristles on the wand are exactly what I look for in a mascara brush; full, round, abundant and lengthening- that it does its job in separating and adding a coat of volume to my lashes. I do find this product to be long-wearing and clump-free, it is not a dry formula, it is a little wet at first, but settles in nicely after a couple of uses. & it’s very complimentary to both my dramatic and natural eye-looks.
Does this product live up to it’s claims and expectations?
Yes. I found that it both added volume and length, not so much curling. It is very pigmented and a true black, so it adds that drama to your eyes. & you don’t need more than two coats on your lashes.
Will I repurchase it again?
Yes; the price doesn’t bother me so much, that I would be more than willing to repurchase it again. I will say this though, if you are looking for an affordable and drugstore dupe, I would say that L’oreal’s Voluminous Carbon Black is a respectable and comparable mascara to Smoky Lash & you do get the same effects. Well, at least I do & think so.
I hope all of you lovelies found this review somewhat helpful or insightful if you’re looking into buying or trying out this mascara. Let me know what you think or if you feel any differently about this product and why. I hope you all are having a good day!
